[Zack's outside when they arrive, chopping firewood, very manly. With the summer garden starting to die down, it's less pretty than it normally would be, but there are obvious signs that this whole area is meant to be a veritable sea of green and mixed colours. Clearly he was not exaggerating about Aerith and her gardening skills.
He spots them, straightening up.]
Hey, Rue! You wanna head in and make yourself comfy? I've got one log left and I'll be right there.
[Okay but counterpoint: they can absolutely watch a hot guy chop wood through the window.]
Nah, I'm almost done anyway. Be right there!
[The house is cutely decorated, very lush and colourful, full of greenery. Zack's huge broadsword rests against one wall on the interior, and there are plenty of signs that the house is lively at the very least. And it smells great. (Very floral and spice.)
Zack'll come in around five minutes later with an armful of chopped wood.]
But by the time that Zack returns, the owlbear is standing near an open window, magically coaxing the blooms from the outside into growing just a little bigger, a touch more fragrant. But their attention shifts to the man immediately, eyes smiling.]
It is no worry at all! I was the one who dropped in without calling ahead.
[omg were they actually making the flowers grow or was that his imagination-
He deposits the wood near the fire, dusting off his arms before resting his hands on his hips.]
Well, you were invited! [Ambiguously, but still.] Sorry nobody else is home right now or I'd introduce you. Can I get you anything? We've got stuff to drink and some snacks around here...
[He'll just grab a chair for them quick before parking himself in the one adjacent. He is all about good southern hospitality! ...Because he grew up in the southern boonies, or something.]
Oh man. Is it weird that I'm kinda hype for it? I've never had clothes designed just for me.
[One lingering look at that chair - it will hold their weight, won't it? Yes, Rue thinks so - before the owlbear gracefully rests in the offered seat, sweeping their skirts just so to make them settle perfectly around their taloned feet.]
Not in the slightest! No matter how often I do this, I always feel just as excited as the last.
[Rue opens their sketchbook and flips it around upside down so that Zack and see the sketches the way they were intended to be viewed. Everything they've done for him is all fairly casual and sleeveless - relaxed jumpsuits, textured sportsware, and full on gymbro fantasy.]
And all of this is relatively easy. Most of the designs I make for myself are much more complicated. So something breezy and athletic like these? That would only take me a day or so to complete.
[And just a little tip in, to whisper as if it's any secret at all]
My vote is for the shorts, but I'd be happy to make any combination of these that you like. Or if you want other suggestions, I can draw something else up. The point is, I want you to be comfortable and excited about your clothes.
I'm all for bowing to the expert. If you vote shorts, I'm into it. The whole point is to shake things up, right? So if I don't usually wear shorts, I should give it a shot.
[When is the last time... Costa del Sol? Do swim trunks count?]
Do you have anything just a little less casual? Like something that would look respectable on a date.
I know exactly what you need. [Their eyes travel over his frame for a moment, taking in the width of his shoulders, his waist before flicking back up to his face.]
Oh yes, I can see it so perfectly! You don't mind color, I remember you saying?
[Zack, Rue is obsessed with that confidence. When their shop in the city opens, you can bet the may hit the man up for some modeling of their designs.]
Then I'll get started on something immediately. [and it will be a surprise]
And what of these? Are there any you like? Any you dislike? Tell me what I can create for you.
[Rue looks delighted that he's picked their favorite.]
Then you shall have that and a lovely date night outfit as well. Give me a week or so, I just want to make sure I find the exact fabric I'm thinking of. It's going to look so stunning on you.
[action] sometime after his text
my cat tried to write this tag for me 3x while i slept
He spots them, straightening up.]
Hey, Rue! You wanna head in and make yourself comfy? I've got one log left and I'll be right there.
bless your cat
BUT!! They are a polite guest. So at the offer, they bow their head in greeting and let him finish his chores in peace.]
I would love to! Thank you. Please do not rush on my behalf, my entire afternoon is quite free.

[He is worthless for formal hosting, sorry Rue.]

No, thank you. I think I'm quite well. Though I did bring by a few things for you, in addition to the sketches.
[They pass him a little basket, just full of fresh fruit and newly baked bread, all from the market.]
no subject
[Zack accepts the basket with a surprised look, looking pleased as he takes a quick whiff. Mm, fresh bread.]
Whoa, thanks! You didn't have to do that. Here, lemme put them out.
[He pokes through a cabinet or two before finding another basket, transferring them over before offering them back theirs.]
You can take your smoked meat home with you in that now! It's perfect.

Thank you, Zack. You are far too sweet. Come, let us sit and I shall show you what I've come up with.

Damn, these all look so comfy! I can't tell you the last time I wore shorts casually. [Swim trunks don't count.] You know how to make all this stuff?

[Spoken with a hint of pride.]

[Aerith makes any colour look good, and he's a great looking guy! No reason why he can't do the same.]
I don't know if I favour blue out of habit or because I actually like it, so you can get adventurous with it if you want.

Hmm... thinking I like this. [He picks one of the textured sportswear, with shorts like they'd recommended.] It looks really comfy.

[He usually doesn't really care what he wears, but Rue's delight is awfully infectious, and it's easy to get him hype for something new.]

[Let them just lean in a little closer, a glint in their eye.].
Tell me all of the gossip you've heard of our other neighbors in Gram. I'm dying to know about the pair that live out by the lake...
